“We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things,
because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” ~ Walt Disney
At the end of last school year, I had two shoots in a row of family’s getting ready to move away. For this children’s session, they wanted portraits in the greenery of Atlanta before they headed to Texas. I believe we were able to preserve a moment in the busy lives for this big sister and twins to continue to cherish. And I am always crazy about little girls spinning in beautiful dresses!
Thanks again for a wonderful session! I will look forward to seeing you in Dallas!

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile!” ~ Dr. Seuss
Wow, it’s been 6 months since I blogged any sessions and here we are at another wonderful springtime in Atlanta! I had so many great shoots the last part of 2011 that I cannot wait to share – we had an unbelievable run of beautiful weather, and I don’t like to share photos of my clients until the holiday season is signed, sealed and delivered! So without further adieu….
This family is very near and dear to me….I’ve known them for many years and captured them throughout their time in Atlanta. We did this bittersweet shoot just a week before they were moving to North Carolina. We wanted to preserve a family memory of the beauty that is Atlanta, and also capture this moment in time for the children. And they are some of my favorite kids’ portraits of the year.
These two photos were used for my favorite Christmas card this year: gorgeous portrait of the kids, turquoise and orange pearl card stock and then my fave, the running shot, which said “We’re off and running to a great start in North carolina….catch up with us when you can…”
More to come!

“Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch, you know that I love you! I can’t help myself , I love you and nobody else!” ~ The Temptations
I was a hostess for a friends’ baby shower this weekend, and headed over to The Pie Shop to pick up my delish pies (we devoured Key Lime Pie and a Chocolate Banana Torte!!!), and it was fun to peruse the fun lyrics and poems that featured pies written all over their walls. I love this classic from The Temptations, and it reminded me of this session I had in April with this little Honey Bunch, who I have captured since birth. We had a wonderful spring morning out in the flowers for her two-year-old session!

“Every child begins the world again…” ~Henry David Thoreau
I love new additions to the family, and this one was a sweet baby boy with the biggest baby blues! During that first year, which is so exciting yet exhausting for the family, I like to capture all of the tiny features, hands and feet during our portraits to document how little they were. And this 20×20 Baby Parts collage is the perfect showcase for all those bits and pieces. For this client, she had a special portrait she wanted to recreate just like a cousin had taken in the same outfit, and it turned out precious!

When the calendar turns to the beginning of the school year, I get excited for all of my fall photos shoots and taking great client portraits that also can be used for Christmas cards. Throughout my blog posts, I have featured how the photos were incorporated into cards, but I had a few extra favorites that I wanted to share, including my own. Last year, my friend Crystal held her annual fall South of Hampton trunk show, which featured the gorgeousness of Trabeautiful Designs, Bespoke Stationery from Nashville, TN. With a fab selection of custom-made stationery including announcements, invitations, social stationery, calling cards, and Christmas cards, several clients had unique cards created from their session. Top of the line quality combined with unique designs were the perfect compliment to my portraits!
In addition, many of my clients choose to order their holiday cards through my store fronts at either Minted.com or Tiny Prints, so click below to check them out:

P.S. My fall is quickly booking up, so be sure to reserve your spot today for portraits!
* We ended up using the “blue” scarf photo (above), but I couldn’t resist popping in this red option!
And here’s the card that I sent out to our family and friends that I designed myself! I LOVE cards that have an actual photograph, so I really love to hand-craft my cards, and this year was no exception – I wanted a fun and colorful card to compliment the whimsical beach portraits I took in the fall. It turned out to be one of my most favorite cards ever! I do have card templates, if you are interested in something fresh and different!

“There are hundreds of languages in the world, but a smile speaks them all.” ~ Unknown
I loved sneaking in this session while the weather was still gorgeous in February, as the family wanted portraits for a new home and change of address card. I consider it a success when I get a great photo of all the kids happy and smiling, as well as beautiful images of them individually. And this session was no exception! The last image is how I show my clients what combinations might look great in their own space as food for thought. Perfection!

“A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life.” ~Isadora James
Here in Atlanta, we had unexpected lovely weather in February, so when my sister-in-law and nieces came for a visit, I couldn’t wait to get them outside for some portraits! These two sisters are truly loving and caring toward each other, and I think it shows in their sibling images. And I think we captured a little bit of fun and a whole lot of beauty in their individual portraits. I do not have any sisters of my own, so I think of my three sisters-in-laws as such, and feel so blessed to have the gift of their friendship.
Thank you for being a part of my life!

“Life is like a rainbow. You need both the sun and the rain to make its colors appear.” ~ Anonymous
I had the vision for the shoot in my head, as I had driven by the crazy location on several occasions and thought, “wowsa!” And I had a Suburban full of little girls decked out in tutus, ready to play with me. Little did I know that I would have only 10 minutes to secure these super fun images before getting shooed off the public property. Just enough time to capture some colorful, canvas-worthy images for their bedrooms!
One of my favorite tutu images!

“The dog was created specially for children. He is the god of frolic.” ~Henry Ward Beecher
After a string of capturing clients’ dogs in their final days, I was so excited to hear about the highly anticipated arrival of a new puppy! I tell people to capture them early and often, just like babies: they grow up so fast, and before you know it they are bigger than ever. So we snuck in an afternoon portrait session at the family’s home with their old faithful, Dixie, and their new puppy, Shooter. These two boys are having the best time! And while I am at it, I wanted to share portraits from the families’ Christmas card, because you can never have enough tow-headed handsomness!

“Oh, if it be to choose and call thee mine, love, thou art every day my Valentine!” ~Thomas Hood
One of my favorite holidays is Valentine’s Day, with all the red and pink and hearts galore. So I loved getting the call that this mom wanted some portraits of her children as a Valentine’s Day gift for her husband. Four beautiful girls, each and every one so fun to photograph, and extra gorgeous in a group setting with their mom. We also created a fun montage which made the perfect Valentine’s Day card for family and friends…love!
