I love to capture families, especially when it includes a mom of young children, who probably doesn’t make it in a lot of shots throughout the year! The timing of this photo shoot was perfect … the weather was gorgeous, the  yard looked great and all three of the family pets – Maddie, Ginger and Buster – all cooperated nicely for the annual family portrait. However, the “D” family’s sweet lab was not doing well, so fortunately, we got some wonderful moments, including some last parting shots with a treasured family member during her last days. And sweet portraits of quickly growing, precious children. If only we could stop time in its tracks!

I’ll close with a quote I love: “If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.” ~ Will Rogers

Highlands, North Carolina is one stunning place, and I love finding new places to shoot when we visit. For the past several years, I have had loads of fun meeting my dear friend “V” in the mountains to explore, hike and hang out with all of our kids. “V” grew up coming to Highlands her whole life, so it holds a special place in her heart, and especially the family homestead.  I couldn’t wait to photograph the family at their house on beautiful Apple Lake, which also features an orchard. We had grandparents and grand kids, as well as the family at their log cabin home. Enjoy the view!
