A great big THANK YOU to my family, friends and clients for making 2012 a huge success – this bouquet of flowers is just for you!

Wow, it’s been 6 months since I blogged any sessions and here we are at another wonderful springtime in Atlanta! I had so many great shoots the last part of 2011 that I cannot wait to share – we had an unbelievable run of beautiful weather, and I don’t like to share photos of my clients until the holiday season is signed, sealed and delivered! So without further adieu….
This family is very near and dear to me….I’ve known them for many years and captured them throughout their time in Atlanta. We did this bittersweet shoot just a week before they were moving to North Carolina. We wanted to preserve a family memory of the beauty that is Atlanta, and also capture this moment in time for the children. And they are some of my favorite kids’ portraits of the year.
These two photos were used for my favorite Christmas card this year: gorgeous portrait of the kids, turquoise and orange pearl card stock and then my fave, the running shot, which said “We’re off and running to a great start in North carolina….catch up with us when you can…”
More to come!
When the calendar turns to the beginning of the school year, I get excited for all of my fall photos shoots and taking great client portraits that also can be used for Christmas cards. Throughout my blog posts, I have featured how the photos were incorporated into cards, but I had a few extra favorites that I wanted to share, including my own. Last year, my friend Crystal held her annual fall South of Hampton trunk show, which featured the gorgeousness of Trabeautiful Designs, Bespoke Stationery from Nashville, TN. With a fab selection of custom-made stationery including announcements, invitations, social stationery, calling cards, and Christmas cards, several clients had unique cards created from their session. Top of the line quality combined with unique designs were the perfect compliment to my portraits!
In addition, many of my clients choose to order their holiday cards through my store fronts at either Minted.com or Tiny Prints, so click below to check them out:

P.S. My fall is quickly booking up, so be sure to reserve your spot today for portraits!
* We ended up using the “blue” scarf photo (above), but I couldn’t resist popping in this red option!
And here’s the card that I sent out to our family and friends that I designed myself! I LOVE cards that have an actual photograph, so I really love to hand-craft my cards, and this year was no exception – I wanted a fun and colorful card to compliment the whimsical beach portraits I took in the fall. It turned out to be one of my most favorite cards ever! I do have card templates, if you are interested in something fresh and different!
“Oh, if it be to choose and call thee mine, love, thou art every day my Valentine!” ~Thomas Hood
One of my favorite holidays is Valentine’s Day, with all the red and pink and hearts galore. So I loved getting the call that this mom wanted some portraits of her children as a Valentine’s Day gift for her husband. Four beautiful girls, each and every one so fun to photograph, and extra gorgeous in a group setting with their mom. We also created a fun montage which made the perfect Valentine’s Day card for family and friends…love!

As part of my Junior League of Atlanta volunteer work, one of my placements is taking portraits of my dear friend that serves as our President this year for the League’s various publications. She’s also a regular client, and I have the pleasure of capturing the milestones of her baby boy, so this session we combined the two at a cool urban location. “A” is a verified fashionista (see this post about photographing her baby in her Hermes Birkin bag!), and when she showed up in her fab red coat and Louboutin boots, I knew we could have fun at this perfect spot. When I start the editing process, certain photos immediately jump out at me as being perfect for black and white treatment. Not only did we have some wonderful B&W portraits, but the session was a blast with the shots or red – perfect for holiday cards and coordinating with the Junior League’s signature red logo. And one of my faves from the session? The last shot of the day: a sweet boy loving on his mama! Enjoy!
I had supplied a giant red lollipop as a photo bribe, and he wolfed it down while we took some portraits of mom!
Fall in Atlanta in quite colorful, and I was excited to shoot this family at their stunning home and garden with loads of beautiful leaves that we caught just in time! What I really wanted to call this post was Pretty in Pink, because these two sisters are perfectly attired for the beauty of the outdoors, and we were lucky to get portraits right before all colors changed and disappeared into winter. And I am always crazy about a sweet girl and her lashes, as well as the giggles and laughter of young ladies captured for a moment in time. And the final icing on the cake? A gorgeous family shot on the green stretch of lawn! Enjoy!

Highlands, North Carolina is one stunning place, and I love finding new places to shoot when we visit. For the past several years, I have had loads of fun meeting my dear friend “V” in the mountains to explore, hike and hang out with all of our kids. “V” grew up coming to Highlands her whole life, so it holds a special place in her heart, and especially the family homestead. I couldn’t wait to photograph the family at their house on beautiful Apple Lake, which also features an orchard. We had grandparents and grand kids, as well as the family at their log cabin home. Enjoy the view!

For the fall issue of Peachtree Papers (see this post), one of the family portrait sessions for the Board of Directors of the Junior League of Atlanta was held at Chastain Horse Park. For many years, the League has provided volunteers for the Chastain Therapeutic Riding Program, which provides equine-assisted therapies and activities for children and adults with disabilities and children at risk. What started out as a standard family portrait session on the lovely grounds of the horse park turned unexpectedly as we posed near the barn. One of the horses wanted to become part of the family portrait, which made for uncontrollable belly laughs!
For more than 14 years, I have been a proud member of the Junior League of Atlanta, having served on its Board twice, and for the past several years, as a League photographer and on the 100th Anniversary committee. This year I am thrilled that one of my dear friends is the President of the League, and I have the pleasure of capturing her throughout the year and to be featured in our League’s magazine, Peachtree Papers. For the fall issue, I shot the President’s Message Portrait, as well as several family shots for the Board of Directors. For this family session, the location featured is one of the League’s community partners, the Atlanta Botanical Garden. A beautiful session in the gardens culminated in some fun family portraits at one of my favorite Atlanta spots.

Have you seen the new fall Tommy Hilfiger ad campaign, that features a tailgate party taking place on a stunning Woody, complete with monogrammed door, appropriate plaids, and a gaggle of smartly fashioned, beautiful people? I love it! Often called the original SUV, the Jeep Grand Waggoner is quite an Americana mobile (I think some people even play “Hey there’s a Woody!” in addition, to “Punch Buggy, No Punch Backs”.) I couldn’t wait to feature this newly hitched couple in the latest addition to their mountain home, as well as some great outdoor photos to commemorate a fantastic summer in Highlands.
Let the sky be the limit to your dreams – to infinity and beyond!
